I can’t forget the day some guys tapped my bum in public — Actress Anita Joseph

Actress Anita JosephControversial Nollywood actress,  Anita Joseph said she is taking her time when it comes to marriage to avoid making same mistakes as some of her colleagues.

Speaking to Daily Sun,  the Anambra-born actress opened up about marriage, motherhood and her butts which men find irresistible.

“Marriage comes when it comes. I’m not bothered about it. If my boyfriend shoots well and I get pregnant, then that’s fine. Marriage crashes are everywhere but that doesn’t really bother or worry me. In fact, it makes me stronger and challenged. It reminds me that when I finally get married, I must remain in it because there are wolves out there waiting to devour the union,” she said.

Describing the kind of man she likes, Anita maintains that he must posses a charming sense of humour, along other qualities.

“My kind of man must be spirit filled. He must fear Jehovah God. There’s nothing more attractive to me than a man that loves God. He must also make me laugh a lot; charming good sense of humour. My husband must be a power dresser, smells nice. I don’t like loud men. I don’t like a man that picks or blows their nose anyhow, especially in the public.

“I love a man that I can fart in his presence and he will tell me ‘well done princess’. He can fart in my presence too, no problem. I don’t do cinemas; I prefer to stay indoors with my man. After all, I have television at home; all I have to do is to buy popcorn and Fanta, then off the light and enjoy the moment with my man,” she gushed.

Recalling her unforgettable moment as a celebrity, the outspoken movie star said:

“Hmmm… it was when some guys tapped my bum. I guess they found my butts irresistible. I can’t forget that day. I wanted to remove my heels and pursue them, but the actress in me held me back. If not, they would have seen the other side of me.”

Strange illness: Death toll hits 74 in Kwara — Community leader

Strange illnessThe Jawuro Fulani of Oro-Ago land in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Umaru Sori, on Sunday said no fewer than 74 people in the 15 Fulani settlements of the town had died of a strange illness.

Our correspondent gathered that rattled officials of the Kwara State Government, as well as the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of the Ifelodun LGA, Alhaji Mukaila Ayinla, visited the community on Friday.

However, the state government said there was neither an outbreak of any strange illness nor death of 70 people in the community.

The state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Suleiman Alege, on Friday told journalists in Ilorin, that the report of deaths was a rumour.

He had said there were epidemiological processes for reporting a suspected disease outbreak in the state, adding that if any occurred, the state health response team would be the first to swing into action.

Alege stated that the Ministry of Health had on Thursday deployed a team in the Gaa Okuta community, adding that the team found no evidence of any strange illness or any casualty.

He also claimed that members of the community said there was no outbreak of any disease in the area or any record of death.

But the Fulani leader, Sori, who conducted some journalists, including our correspondent, around some of the affected settlements, faulted the state government’s claim.

He said no fewer than 74 people had died of the strange illness.

He also showed journalists a new burial ground at the Obu area, off Oreke Road, Oro-Ago, newly allocated to the Fulani to bury those that died as a result of the strange illness.

Our correspondent observed that there were 12 newly-dug graves; 11 for adults, while one was for a young person.

Three other victims – two girls and one young man–who had been attacked by the strange illness, were presented to the journalists.

The names of the females were given as Hauwawu Dogo and Aisha Yakubu, while the male victim was not identified.

The Fulani leader stated that some dead victims were also buried by the roadside after they died on the way to hospitals in Lafiaji, Omu-Aran and other places.

He listed some of the dead victims to include Muhammed Irua, Umaru Dodi, Wety Sajo (female), Hauwau Bagu, (female), Adijatu Abubakar (female), Muhamed Gide, Umaru Dogari, Umaru Babangida, Usman Babangida, Aliu Namabila, Delu Umar, and Aishatu Aliu (female).

He pleaded with the Federal Government, the Kwara State Government, the Ifelodun LGA, the World Health Organisation and other humanitarian bodies and philanthropists to come to the aid of the people living in the 15 Fulani settlements.

Sori said, “My people are dying in Oro-Ago. Within one month, 74 people have died. Some people are also sick now. There are no drugs in hospitals in Oro-Ago to take care of my people.

“I want to beg the Federal Government to help me take care of my people. We don’t have  doctors in the General Hospital, Oro-Ago.  The Federal Government should provide doctors at the General Hospital, Oro-Ago. The victims usually have headaches; then they vomit blood, and they die.”

Four men who lost their children also called on the government and donor agencies to assist the community.

The four men are Mohammed Ibrahim, who lost a son, Ide; Tahu Adamu, who lost a son, Shehu; Abubakar Michede, who lost a daughter, Hadizah; and Alhaji Umaru Babuga, who lost a daughter, Fatimah.

The Community Health Officer, ECWA Health, Clinic and Maternity Centre, Oro-Ago, Mr. Philip Obayan, said some Fulani people had brought sick persons to the facility.

He stated that many of them complained of vomiting blood and black substances, adding that he referred them to the General Hospital, Omu-Aran, for better treatment as the ECWA facility had no capacity to deal with the illness.

He said, “We had some patients in June; some from Ahu, some from Obu, Ajegunle and other neighbouring villages. When I came in June, we lost one old woman. They told me that she was vomiting and passing stools. I diagnosed her for diarrhoea and placed her on admission. But on second day, her vomit was blackish. I was going to refer her to a bigger hospital, but she died in the night.

“Other cases, as soon as they come, I referred them to the General Hospital, Omu-Aran.

“From my preliminary investigation, the people had yellow fever or virile hepatitis.

“The people who live in the town are not affected. However, the people who stayed in the bush and villages, such as the Fulani and these people that cut trees, are affected.  One of them recently brought his child; I confirmed that the boy was dead.”

But the commissioner for health said reporting health issues through the media was not a normal procedure.

Alege said, “We were there on Friday and we discussed with the Oloro of Oro-Ago, Oba Tafa Dada. Our state epidemiologists and WHO officials were also with them.

“The process of reporting health issue is not through the press. But we have taken samples from the community to the laboratory and the preliminary report will come out by Tuesday.

“I will advise that if any further issues come up, they should report to the appropriate quarters.  We still see the claim as a rumour until the result of the test comes out.”

The common trait Buhari and Mugabe shares — BBC
common trait Buhari and Mugabe sharesPresident Muhammadu Buhari and President Robert Mugabe

According to a report by BBC Africa, the presidents of Nigeria, Angola, Zimbabwe, Benin and Algeria all have something in common; an apparent lack of faith in the health systems at home.

In terms of time spent abroad getting medical help, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, 74, is the first among equals, but in the past year all these heads of state have traveled overseas for health reasons. In many cases they are leaving behind poorly funded health services, which most of their citizens have to rely on.

In 2010, the average amount spent on health in African countries per person was $135 (£100) compared to $3,150 in high-income countries, the UN’s World Health Organization said. In Zimbabwe, for example, state-run hospitals and clinics often run out of basic medicines like painkillers and antibiotics, according to health watchdog Citizens Health Watch. It says that the public health care system “continues to deteriorate at alarming levels” with lack of money being the main problem.

19 January: Leaves for UK on “medical vacation”

5 February: Asks parliament to extend medical leave

10 March: Returns home but does not resume work immediately

7 May: Travels to UK for further treatment

6 June: Aisha Buhari says his is “recuperating fast”

The report continues to say, Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, in power since 1980, has also been criticised by his political opponents for running the country “from his hospital bed” after his third medical trip to Singapore this year. ‘As for Nigeria, the public health system is “terrible” because of poor funding’.

The photo was taken in 2003 when they were still together as Plantation Boiz.

Meanwhile, since their separation it has not been well with the relationship between 2face and Blackface.

blackface1Blackface in an interview with Hip TV discussed the controversy behind hit song African Queen, which he has repeatedly claimed was stolen from him by 2Baba,his former bandmate from Plantashun Boiz.

He said it is natural for their colleague Faze to call for all parties to reconcile since he did not write the song, and has no idea how it feels to have one’s song stolen.

He said: “There’s a saying that ‘Who feels it knows it.’ He didn’t write the song, so he doesn’t know what I’m talking about.”

Davido’s police escorts detained over alleged reckless shooting

The Nigeria Police Force says it has detained and tried two of its personnel in an orderly room for alleged reckless shooting in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that a video in circulation on the social media showed the two policemen shooting into the air on the street while in a moving vehicle in Lagos.

The Head of Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU), ACP Abayomi Shogunle, said the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Mobile Force at the Force Headquarters, identified the men following a directive of the Inspector-General of Police.

Shogunle said the incident happened on July 31 at 5pm along the Murtala Mohammed International Airport road in Lagos.

He explained that the two policemen, who were attached to the 20 Police Mobile Force Squadron, were attached to a private security company, Infinity Security Company.

Shogunle said a popular Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, aka Davido, engaged them to provide escort for him to his house while returning from abroad.

He said,“Along the way, as seen in the video which has been confirmed from investigation, the two policemen involved started shooting into the air for no just cause.

“Punishment has been recommended. We are only waiting for the appropriate police authority to review the punishment.”

Panic as gunmen kill two near Onitsha church one week after Ozubulu killings

gunmen kill two near Onitsha churchSuspected assassins came exactly a week after the deadly gun attack on parishioners at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State, which claimed the lives of 13 and injured scores of others. An eyewitness said the gunmen had stopped near the church, adding that on sighting some policemen at the church, they opened fire on them.

But the state government in a statement, last night, said there was no attack on any church in the state. However, the source said the attackers, after killing one of the policemen, made away with his rifle. It was learned that the persistent shooting by the hoodlums set off panic in the church, though the attack was not directly targeted at the church.

“When the firing became too hot, the policemen abandoned their patrol vehicle and ran away for safety. “The gunmen moved to their patrol van and took a gun belonging to the policeman they killed,” said the eyewitness, who claimed he could not  identify the number of armed men involved in the attack.

Another eyewitness said the gunmen on okada (motorcycle) shot a policeman and took his rifle, adding that they also shot dead an okada man while making their escape. The okadaman’s   passenger was injured. He said the policemen were attacked as they provided security while church service was in progress.

An eye for an eye will blind Nigeria, Atiku warns over Quit notices
Atiku warns over Quit noticesAtiku abubakar

Atiku Abubakar said the issue of quit notice was generating heat in the polity, adding that the counter-notices issued to other Nigerians in certain parts of the country, were among the ripple effects.

The Waziri Adamawa spoke in a statement he signed on Sunday.

The statement, titled, ‘An eye for an eye will leave Nigeria blind,’ called for restructuring of Nigeria and replacement of state of origin with state of residence to promote unity.

He said, “First and foremost, it is a fallacy to believe that there are people of northern or southern origin. Nigeria only has people of one origin. We are all of Nigerian origin.

“As Nigerians, we must be pragmatic enough to realise the obvious truth that an eye for an eye will leave Nigeria blind.

‘Let me at this juncture remind these “quit noticers” that when brothers fight to the death over a domestic dispute, it is their neighbours that eventually end up inheriting their father’s property.

“It is also for this reason, among others, that I have urged and still urge that Nigeria should be restructured and that state of origin ought to be removed from our constitution and other relevant laws and policies, to be replaced by state of residency.

“If we, as Nigerians, are tied to our residency, rather than the state where our ancestors originated from, this whole idea of quit notice would not have arisen in the first place.

“Let us remember that though we have many ethnic nationalities in Nigeria, we are all largely of one race. In the United Arab Emirates, foreigners exceed the native Emiratis in number, yet the UAE is one of the most peaceful nations on earth. If people of different races can live in peace in South Africa and the United States, why can’t we do the same here?”

The former Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress commended the National Broadcasting Commission for taking steps to sanction radio stations playing Igbo hate songs.

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams, says it is time to restructure Nigeria to curb hate speeches currently being experienced in the country.

Adams in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday said that hate speeches indicated that all was not well with the country politically.

“With the present hate speeches, it is an indication that all is not well with us politically and we need to do something fast about it before it degenerates into crisis.

“I have been hearing from the government that there are increasing  hate speeches in the country from different groups, even from the political players.

“I believe that under democracy, the government must learn the civil way of addressing such anomaly because of freedom of speech as entrenched in the constitution.

“Also, if anyone says anything that contravenes the law, such an individual is liable to face the full weight of the law but that does not mean the government should go overboard,” he said.

Adams said that various  agitations within the federation were a reflection that injustice was prevailing in the country, adding that only restructuring would help douse the tension.

“We can’t cow the people. I am aware of the various interest groups such as the Indigenous People of Biafra and Arewa Youths and other groups.

“With Arewa Youths giving October 1 as deadline; I believe that in any society, when injustice prevails, such a society will be experiencing the same situation we are experiencing. This country needs restructuring.

“The only problem we have is that we are not well structured from the time we had our independence which warrants all these hate speeches flying around.

“In our society, if the right thing is not done or delayed, it may bring anarchy; I appeal to the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, restructure Nigeria now,’’ he told NAN.

Adams said that if the country continued without restructuring, many groups would rise to agitate more for their rights.

“This country cannot continue without restructuring because people will express their rights for liberty and we cannot avoid this. They will continue to agitate.

“If we consider what happens during the military we will see that we cannot stop agitation from people. We fought the military through agitation and we won.

“At the end, the wish of the people will prevail, so to reduce all these ugly incidents and to sanitise our society, the government  has  its responsibility.

“Government must do the wish of the people because democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people. We cannot call the peoples bluff,’’ he said.
