Design and Display
The Gionee P8 Max is not the most elegant we have seen, but it is not bad either. It has a slight touch of a high-end device, especially with the screen light off. We have to say it is rather thick, though, at 9.2 millimetres.
Gionee P8 Max offers generous screen estate with an IPS LCD unit measuring 5.5 inches diagonally. The capacitive touchscreen has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This supposedly features protection by Corning Gorilla Glass of an unnamed version.
Camera
On the camera front, the Gionee P8 Max does not really disappoint, at least on paper. There is a 13 megapixel rear camera with an aperture size of f/2.2. Its features include autofocus, HDR, LED flash and face detection.
It can capture potentially high quality 1080p Full HD videos. The 8 megapixel selfie shooter looks ready to serve some great quality self-shots as well.

Under the hood, there is a quad-core MediaTek MT6737T chipset with Cortex A53 cores. The CPU speed maxes at 1.5 GHz. This doesn’t promise the most powerful performance. But the provision of respectable 3 GB of RAM should boost responsiveness and performance.
The onboard storage is generous at 32 GB, but you won’t be able to expand this. The Gionee P8 Max boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, with its Chinese maker’s Amigo 3.2 skin laid on top.
