In an attempt to end the ongoing strike embarked upon by university lecturers, Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU) is meeting with FG today.
The union’s National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi said this in an interview on Sunday in Lagos. The lecturers in the nation’s universities had on Aug 13 embarked on what they described as comprehensive, total and indefinite strike.
The lecturers are protesting against the non-implementation of 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as well as the 2009 agreement they entered into with the Federal government. “We are going into another round of meeting with representatives of the Federal government tomorrow, Sept. 18.
“We are still on strike. However, we are hoping that we will sort out all the grey areas and hope, too, that the Federal government will show sincerity and commitment on their own part. “We have done our own part and we expect them too to do their own with all sincerity.
“Should both sides settle whatever issues that have been brought before the house, we will consider putting the crisis behind us and move forward. “So we are indeed looking forward to a fruitful deliberation in order to move forward, for the benefit of all the stakeholders and the nation at large,” the unionist told NAN.

In related news, Few weeks ago, Charlyboy called out 2face for not joining his #Resumeorresign Buhari protest in Abuja.
Reacting to it in a recent chat with Saturday Beats 2face said he wouldn’t understand why the Area Fada would call him out because he (Tuface) didn’t join his protest.
“The only thing I have to say about the protest is that I am not Nigeria’s problem. I don’t understand why Charlyboy is calling me out. He should talk to the people that are Nigeria’s problem. That is all I have to say about that,” he said
If you recall, 2Face shelves an earlier planned protest due to calls of hijacking and insecurities.
He said no Nigerian live was worth the protests hence, the need to call it off.
In the video he shared, he wrote
“Dear Nigerians!!! Due to security concerns and public safety consideration. I hereby announce the cancellation of the planned March”.
On hearing that the singer had backed out, citing security and public safety concerns, the Area Father reacted and mocked
“The struggle to overcome political insanity, audacious impunity and mindless looting in Nigeria took a negative hit last night not just because Tuface Idibia called off the 6th of February, 2017 protest; because most of the demons we are fighting against hijack the people’s protest and anger at the establishment.”

Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, speaks the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit to the at the United Nations General Assembly in New York
As President Muhammadu Buhari arrives the United States to address the United Nations General Assembly, Northern leaders have raised the alarm that the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has mobilized Nigerians living in the country to attack the president.
The Arewa people under the aegis of Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, alleged on Sunday in a mail sent to Vanguard that the plan by IPOB sponsors was to humiliate President Buhari, who is billed to speak at UNGA.
In the mail signed by the Spokesman for the CNG, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the northern leaders said that the action was also intended to further provoke the northerners and incite the world against the Nigerian leader and his government. But the northern group vowed to make appropriate response to the IPOB provocation by taking its position against he antic of the proscribed organization to the UN.
The northern group however hailed the South-East governor’s for proscribing IOPB once it was declared a terrorist group by the Defense Headquarters, saying that they had been vindicated by such declarations. CNG also lauded the governments of Abia, Rivers and Plateau States for promptly arresting the move by IPOB to set the country on war path and kill innocent Nigerians in the process.
The northern group said, “We must state here that our position that IPOB be proscribed, its activities be declared as acts of terror, and its leaders be accordingly treated in the interest of a greater, peaceful and united Nigeria has to a large extent been vindicated which is also reassuring and encouraging.
“We also wish to state that we have a priviledged information that IPOB sponsors are mobilizing their members in the Diaspora to humiliate our dear President Muhammadu Buhari in New York where he is billed to address the United Nations General Assembly.
“We call on Nigerians to as well overlook this planned unpatriotic action by the IPOB supporters as it is nothing but another antic to provoke reactions. “We assure all peace loving Nigerians that CNG is also preparing to counter IPOB’ foreign propaganda efforts by compiling relevant facts to be presented personally to the UN soon. “Finally, we reiterate the call for calm and tolerance as the authorities diligently carry out their duties.”

Curvy socialite, Corazon Kwamboka, is not pleased with the insinuations that she dates old white men for money. Kwamboka, who usually posts pictures of herself having fun all around the world in some exquisite locations with her Italian boyfriend recently lashed out at some followers on her Instagram page for insinuating that she is only in the relationship for money.
In an exclusive chat with Sunday Scoop, the model said, “It is disgusting that people would say that I date old white men for money. If they have ever seen me with any of such men, then, they should provide pictures or videos as proof. I am a hardworking lady.
I make a lot of money from modeling and for doing promotions for brands. I’m also a qualified lawyer, and I’m an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. I’m not the type of person that would follow any man for money. I’m sufficiently empowered to make money for myself and enjoy my life.”
Reacting to the allegations that she has abandoned her father, she said, “I really don’t want to talk about my personal life. I am in good terms with every member of my family and they support me.
Some bloggers would just sit behind their computers and churn out whatever rubbish comes to their mind. As a lawyer, I know how to deal with them by taking them to court, but I’m bidding my time. And I have more important things to attend to at the moment.
On if she has a special diet for maintaining her shape which leaves men drooling and ladies green with envy, she said, “I just live simply. I do things in moderation, and I eat food that I know are beneficial to my body. I also take a lot of fruits and I exercise a lot.”

It was gathered that on that fateful day, July 16, at Ikaka village in Ibaji Local Government Area of the state, the deceased went to the farm about 5.00am. Three hours later, about 8.00am, Clement also went to the farm with his double barrel gun.
According to his statement, Clement said he saw a monkey on a tree and shot it. The monkey fell down. When he ran to the foot of the tree to pick up the monkey, Clement said that what he saw was the dead body of his brother.
Speaking to The Sun at headquarters of the Kogi State police command, where he has been detained while investigation into the matter is in progress, Clement, said:
“I hunt for monkeys. I have never had any misunderstanding with my younger brother, Monday Ekele.
On that day, he went to the farm before me. Later I also went to the farm with my gun. There, I saw a monkey on the tree. I shot the monkey but when I wanted to carry the dead monkey, it changed into my younger brother. I didn’t know what came over me; I couldn’t understand myself. I ran back to the village and I started drinking beer and rejoicing.
Later, I told my friend Anthony that I shot my younger brother dead.”
“The gods I worship failed me because I refused to perform certain sacrificial rites. They became angry with me; I have been a hunter for years, I never shot anybody. Why must I kill my own brother? We live together, our houses are opposite each other. I have been having misunderstanding with the people in my community. They only envy me.”
One of the villagers Ali Ibrahim, who spoke to Sunday Sun said that the suspect, Clement, believed so much in charms and had been terrorizing the villagers with his prowess in diabolic practice.
“When we heard that he shot his brother, Monday, who was the chairman of the vigilance group. Before this incident happened, he would always threaten to deal with anybody that crossed his path. He often carried out the threat. So he has been a terror to us.
People in our village were so afraid of him, and were under some kind of bondage when he was around. As it is now, we don’t want him to come back to the village again. He has dealt with several of his opponents,” Ibrahim said.
The officer in charge of the Homicide Section, Kogi Police Command, Supol Mohammed Balarabe, disclosed that detectives recovered the dane gun allegedly used by Clement to commit the alleged crime.
Meanwhile, the deceased has been buried while the suspect is awaiting arraignment in court by the police, for murder.

President Muhammadu Buhari ::
A former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, has urged the Federal Government to explore other sources of revenue, warning that the income from crude oil will further decrease, especially with the United States and other buyers converting to electric-powered vehicles.
Akande, who gave the warning in an address on Friday in Osogbo at a conference on the second anniversary of the South-West in national governance, stressed that Nigeria needed to look beyond oil.
He said the era of waiting for proceeds from crude oil from Abuja was gradually coming to an end.
Apart from shifting focus away from crude oil, Akande said Nigeria must cut waste, stressing that the nation could no longer afford to waste dwindling resources on unprofitable things.
Akande said, “We can see that all around the world and particularly in Nigeria, the present business climate is not particularly positive and profitable for crude oil economy.
“Little do the members of the general public of Nigeria yet appreciate that government can no longer play ‘Father Christmas’ and that the so-called free money from crude oil will no longer come in steadily if and when Europe, America and China totally convert to electric motors that consume no petroleum fuel.
“The future Nigerian constitution must not assume income from oil money and must drastically cut waste.”
Akande, who is a former Interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, said the occasional negative perceptions about the APC-controlled government were due to the silence of the party.
He advised the party to stimulate ‘deliberative democracy’ by frequently convening sessions where party members would be informed about various intended policies, plans and decisions of the party.
According to him, the sessions will make the APC members to be reasonably informed to enable them to inform members of the general public, especially now that Nigerians were reminding the party of its manifestos and looking forward to the party and the government to bring about true federalism.
One of the speakers at the conference, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, said the progress and prosperity of Nigeria would depend on states and the regions.
He said, “States must drive growth, create jobs and improve the livelihood of the people; it’s simple logic that the aggregate of state performances in the social and economic sectors adds up to national performance.
“To achieve this, we need to “federalise” census, surveys, GDP, education, agriculture, power generation and many of the responsibilities that are solely apportioned to the Federal Government and allow the states to have a wider field of play and localise citizen engagement and leadership accountability.”
