Nigerian artiste, Joshua Iniyezo, aka SolidStar, didn’t always have a smooth life. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, he shared some of his past experiences.

“It wasn’t really easy for me at the beginning. I had to do a lot of things just to make it. There was a time I was hawking sachet water and pastry (puff puff), and it was the money I made from that ‘business’ that I used to pay for my first studio session.

But through all the struggles, I never gave up because I knew I had a bright future ahead of me. I’m not there yet, but I thank God that my efforts are starting to pay off,” he said.

SolidStar has been accused by some people of riding on the crest of other established artistes through collaborations to promote his songs, but he rubbished that allegation.

He said, “For as long as music has been in existence, there have always been collaborations. Can you imagine how the world would be like if there were no collaborations? By collaborating with other artistes, one is able to create a fusion of sounds. I do not deny that collaborations have helped my career, but that was never my intention. I’m all about making good music, and I would work with whoever I feel can deliver on whatever I’m working on.”

The actor said:

“I always sleep for seven hours, or even more. By 9 pm, I am already in bed, and a lot of producers know this about me. If I am to shoot at night, you should have told me earlier so that I would have slept in the afternoon before coming.

But I will still sleep after the production. I know the importance of sleep to the human body and I get a lot of it.’

“I Have Stopped Smoking Weed, But I Still Take Alcohol” – Baba Fryo
“I Have Stopped Smoking Weed, But I Still Take Alcohol” – Baba Fryo

Veteran musician, Baba Fryo in an interview said that he has stopped smoking weed and other related substances three years ago.

He told Sunday Scoop that foolhardiness is what makes artistes abuse drugs and alcohol.

He said:

“To me, it is just stupidity for one to abuse anything or take hard drugs because I don’t see the benefit. Anyone who takes hard drugs is just ‘donating’ madness to him or herself. Most of these young guys indulge in these things because they either want to show off or are influenced by their friends.

“As for me, drugs don’t add anything to me. Now, I only take alcohol and that is whenever I am in the midst of friends, but I don’t drink excessively.”

He admitted that he took weed for many years before he realised that it was adding nothing to him.

“I took weed for so many years, but I stopped about three years ago. I asked myself what it was adding to me and I didn’t get any positive answer. I would just be calm and quiet for like four hours and people would keep wondering what was wrong with me. I also calculated the amount of money I was spending monthly to sustain the habit and it occurred to me that this tidy sum could be put to better use. For anyone who takes cocaine or any other type of hard drug, he or she is killing himself gradually.

“I talk to younger artistes who are close to me, but I can only advise them. For the ones who are not close to me, there is no way I can talk to them because some of these boys are arrogant. Once I sense that you are full of yourself, I don’t come near you,” the Notice Me singer said.

‘You Are Not In Control If Your Children See You And Run Away’- Actor Yomi Fash Lanso
‘You Are Not In Control If Your Children See You And Run Away’- Actor Yomi Fash Lanso

yomi fash

Nollywood actor, Yomi Fash Lanso, has said that as a father, if you return home and your children are hiding at a corner, it shows you are not in control.

He said this in an interview with PUNCH.

When he was asked how he manages his career and roles as a father, he said:

“The important thing is that when one has a good woman as a wife, she will be there no matter how busy the husband is.

She is the one that will make the children understand that their father is out trying to work to cater for the family.

She will tell them not to miss their father too much. When the father is at home, the children must know that he is at home with the way he relates with them.

When a man is out of the house, the children should miss him and even disturb their mother to call him to know when he will be home.

If, as a father, you return home and your children are hiding at a corner, it shows you are not the commander of that home.

You need to adjust. Even if your children do anything wrong, they will still come to you and own up to what they did.

They know that you will scold them, but you will do it lovingly. But when you overdo things, they will run away from you.

You can’t place a food before a mad man and hold a cane talk less of doing that to a sane person.

From my point of view, I task all fathers to make their houses a home that they truly should be.”

Yomi Fash is a popular Nollywood actor.

Adebola Adewuyi

Actress, Adebola Adewuyi, revealed in an interview that she doesn’t like it when people compliment her body.

The upcoming actress, in an interview with Potpourri, poured out her heart on love, sex and money, saying when people tell her she’s sexy, she feels they have other things in their minds.

“Well, I really don’t like people telling me things like, I’m sexy and stuff like that. The truth is that when men know you are an actress, the first thing that jumps into their minds, is that, she must be a prostitute. I don’t want you to see me and the next thing that comes to your mind is sexiness. Beautiful is okay but sexy is obscene, she said.
