Broadband has been the mainstay product for many a UK business over the past several years who are needing a cost-effective way of communicating whether that be internally or reaching out to other branches.
Broadband costs so little purely because it is using copper technology that has been on the ground since the late 50’s! With all ADSL broadband products, the problems start with speeds. All the speeds you see advertised are all “best efforts” so you will see providers saying things such as “up to 15Mb” when in reality, the only way of achieving this is if the wind is blowing in the right direction!
Maybe a bit extreme I know, but because broadband is a contended service which basically means that you share it with other people within your vicinity, it also means that your speed will jump up and down at different times of the day making it very erratic and very unreliable.
If you’re a business that has customers (lots of) and need to send lots of data to them, a broadband line is going to be a bottleneck in your business. With a faster, more reliable connection, you can double, even triple your output!
Fibre broadband then came along offering speed of 76Mb on average and bringing in the era of superfast speeds. The problem is, if you’re a residential customer or a very small business then this will be OK but remember – This is still a broadband product!
No amount of marketing can sell it for something it is not. It is still broadband but in a Ferrari waistcoat!
A lot of areas in the UK still cannot achieve a fiber connection within 2018 is a real shame because it does eat traditional ADSL for breakfast. It’s also about the same price and offers not just greater download speed but upload speed too. For the price, you’re paying (and if it’s available in your area!) then this is a good option.
On the negative side, it is still a “best effort” product, there is still the fact that the basic routers that are provided are exactly that – basic! And here is the most important factor for any business that needs a constant connection – where is the support? With this still being marketed as a cheap product but huge speed benefits of traditional ADSL, it ticks the box BUT if the line goes down then it’s a case of “erm – no idea” as again, it is best efforts.
You may be down for 2 hours. You may be down for 2 weeks or even 2 months! Who knows? So what is the answer??? Well, that’s easy! If you have a business where you need a reliable connection 24/7 then the answer is that you need a leased line.
A leased line I hear you say! Don’t they cost a fortune? Well, several years ago they did but not now. Leased line pricing has dropped so much that it is now truly affordable to even the smallest of businesses.
Leased lines are a technology unlike no other. On the negative side they can take up to 75 working days to install, however, once they are in, they are incredible! Let’s start with the speed. The speed is synchronous so in other words, if you buy a 10Mb leased line, you will get 10Mb download speed and 10Mb upload speed.
Also, the speeds that are advertised are the speeds you get so no more slow down! This is due to the fact that leased lines are uncontended. Unlike broadband products which are shared with other peers which in turn slows your speed down at peak times, a leased line is purely yours so no bandwidth hogging from elsewhere!
That’s the speeds sorted so what about support? All leased lines as standard come with a ½ hour response time and a 4-hour fix. I think we can all agree that is better than waiting for the best effort product! Top this off with a fully managed router, 24/7 support 365 days a year and a range of IP addresses, what is not to like?
With prices at an all-time low and comparison websites now appearing, we found a UK company which stood out from the crowd – 2Connect Data Services. With a 5-star rating and a price promise guarantee along with an instant quote tool on their website so no waiting around for a quote, what’s not to like!
If your business needs a reliable internet connection then I think you will agree, a leased line is the way forward.

A couple of days ago, I started on the subject of digital marketing. There, you had the chance to get answers to some of the questions that bother people whenever digital marketing is mentioned.
While that might be enough to get you started, it is surely not enough to keep you going. That is why we are here today – to keep you going.
One of the things I mentioned in the previous post was how a business needs to change with time. You will be surprised that even when you have started digital marketing like I advised, you will still need to keep up with the new things happening in this scene.
We have had some days in this year already, but we still have a long way to go. I would like you to use those to better your business, so here are the top digital marketing trends to look for this 2018.
1 Going Mobile
Smartphones will not replace laptops and desktops. At least, not in the nearest future. What smartphones will do, and are already doing, though, is offer to do some of the tasks you would have rather done on your computer.
That, is one transformation that makes a very strong digital marketing trend to look forward to.
When structuring your campaigns this year, make sure you don’t only do what fits best on a laptop screen. Understand that many users are now consuming information on their mobile phones more than before. That means a good percentage of your audience is on mobile, so you want them to get the best experience too. Keep that in mind
2 Personalisation
Gone are the days when general statements caught on well with the public. These days, a lot of your potential customers might not even read past the first line of your copy if it starts with something like “Hey there.”
Instead, introduce some personalisation into your marketing. If you have their first name, address them by that. You are making a connection to the customer by being personal, not making them feel like the target of some randomly generated texts.
3 Social Messaging Integration
If you looked at the number of people that spend a good number of their time on social messaging apps, you will be astonished. Rather than staying astonished for long, which won’t help your business, incorporate the digital marketing trend into your business.
Make way for social media integration to allow customers/ people reach you much easier. These days, that is even simpler with major companies such as Facebook optimising its website for businesses, planning optimisations for the Messenger application and even going as far as launching a WhatsApp for Business app. What more can you ask for?
2018 is surely going to be a great year for businesses, but only those that are willing to put in the hard work will get all the benefits. While the year is still young, and you’ve got the time, why not start brainstorming how you will also structure your plans for conversion around these trends?

If you are thinking of buying a cell phone, you must have saved up some amount of money for it. It is important to know that you are going to use your hard earned money to buy that particular phone you have been dreaming of. This calls for one to put in mind some important things so that you buy the best cell phone.
Many a time people are carried away by advertisements that could be from the internet or from a friend which say $200 for a cell phone. Remember this is not the only price you are paying for. You must understand that you are buying something that has got many features in it and just because it comes with a Blackberry, Android or Apple’s trademark does not mean it is what you have been dreaming of.
Instead of being carried away by these advertisements, try to consider some important things before you buy a cell phone.
This article compiles some of the 5 items to help you to decide the cell phone that is suitable for you.
Battery lifeThis is one of the most important items in a cell phone that you must not ignore. Having a durable battery is good for the functioning of your cell phone. It is advisable to go for those cell phones that are sold with an extended battery life as this will minimize chances of having to plug your phone in the charge every now and then. Remember the lesser battery life your cell phone has then more you often will be required to charge it and this will affect the performance of your cell phone in the long run. If your battery capacity is lower, it will drain easily even when doing light tasks that don’t consume a lot of power. If you are going to buy a cell phone online, it is good to check on the cell phones talk time before you decide to buy it. If you find a cell phone that says it offers less than 12 hours talk time per day on 2G network think twice.
KeyboardToday, you can find a cell phone with QWERTY or touch. Note that all the two are great when it comes to typing on your cell phone, however, when you are going to use your phone to send and receive emails you should ensure to go for a cell phone that has a physical keyboard. The QWERTY is best when it comes to tasks that involve a lot of typing. This keyboard resembles that of a computer. If you think of buying a cell phone to use just for the basic functions, you can buy one with a touch keyboard. The only problem with the touch keyboard is that you cannot type very fast while a QWERTY keyboard allows faster typing.
Cell phone screenThe size of the screen of your cell phone matters a lot when it comes to battery consumption. Most people prefer big screen but in the long run, they realize that it drains your battery faster. Therefore, you must understand that the bigger the screen your cell phone has the more power it will consume. In fact, experts recommend cell phone users to go for LED as they are believed to consume less power.
LongevityNo one wants to buy a cell phone today that will die in the next few months. Everyone wants a durable item that will serve them for a longer period of time. But how do you know that your dream cell phone is durable?
You can get to know if your phone is durable by searching on YouTube for “drop tests” of your cell phone make. Here you will be able to find videos that will help you to know which cell phone model is durable than the other.
Your budgetThis is also another important factor in buying your new cell phone. It doesn’t matter whether you think of buying a high grade, mid-grade or lower grade cell phone, what matters is your spending power. Sometimes you might find that you have set your budget for a mid-grade cell phone but you want to buy an older high-grade model. Don’t! it is better to buy that mid-grade model than to buy the older high-grade model.
