At a time when most smartphone manufacturers are rounding up product releases for the year 2018, popular Chinese OEM UMIDIGI makes a die minute (read: last minute) move by adding yet another top-of-the-line device to its mid-range arsenal. And although the UMIDIGI F1 has been subject to rumours, leaks and renders over the past couple of weeks, the official release of the device even makes it more exciting. This is due to the amount of amazeballs features the phone boast of, despite being a midrange.
The phone is also reasonably priced. If you have always wanted to have a feel of a smartphone with a bezel-less full-view display, dual camera setup, waterdrop notch, smooth multitasking, huge battery, and above all, the latest Android 9 Pie operating system, you should check out the UMIDIGI F1; it’s a steal.
UMIDIGI F1 Key Specifications Dimension: 74.35 x 156.9 x 8.8 mm Weight: 186 grams Display: 6.3-inch FHD+ Waterdrop Full Screen FHD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) in 19.5 : 9 aspect ratio CPU: MediaTek MTK, Helio P60, 4xCortex-A73, 2.0GHz & 4xCortex-A53, 2.0GHz GPU: ARM Mali G72 MP3 700MHz Internal storage: 128GB ROM, supports SD card (up to 256GB) RAM: 4GB LPDDR4X RAM Operating system: Stock Android 9 Pie Rear Camera: Dual 16MP + 8MP with LED flash Front-facing camera: 16MP selfie camera Colours: Red, Black, and Gold Battery: 5,150mAH with 18W fast charging Design and BuildThe device is almost as similarly and sturdily built as the recently launched UMIDIGI One Max by the same manufacturer. It comes with a waterdrop or dew-drop style of notch which gives the display more real-estate on the front for a Full-view visual experience. The UMIDIGI F1 joins the growing list of smartphones from the OEM to sport a dew-drop style of notch.
The device is a bit thick owing to the big built-in battery but at 186 grams, it is surprisingly lightweight when compared to other devices with smaller batteries. At the top of the display, UMIDIGI managed to squeeze in the earpiece and some sensors just right above the selfie camera. The phone comes with two microphones: one at the top and the other, at the bottom. Other components at the bottom include a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port for charging and data transfer, and thr built-in stereo speaker.
The dual cameras on the rear sits at the top-left corner and are vertically arranged in the iPhone X style: primary camera at the top, secondary s sorry at the bottom, and dual LED flash in between. The UMIDIGI F1’s design is finished off by the three different colour options: Black, Red, and Gold.
DisplayThe UMIDIGI F1 uses an IPS display with a FHD+ (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) resolution to give the best visual experience when watching movies and just browsing through web pages. The display is a 6.3-inch screen and despite its size, it can conveniently be held and operated in one hand as it comes in 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Pixel density comes in at 409 pixels per inch (ppi), better than the 403 ppi of the UMIDIGI Z2 Pro, the company’s 2018 flagship.
A 2.5D curved glass covers the screen and though it is scratch-resistant, you might be disappointed to find out that it doesn’t come with display protection of any sort.
CameraThe combination of the device’s primary 16-megapixels and secondary 8-megapixels 6-element lens with f/1.7 aperture on the rear would give decent images. The secondary lens helps add Bokeh effects to images while other camera features like real-time filters, panorama, face recognition etc also makes sure your images come out looking good. The camera is capable of shooting 1080P videos at 30 frames per second.
The front-facing camera embedded in the dew-drop notch is 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and other features like face recognition and selfie countdown.
Processor and SoftwareThe UMIDIGI F1 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P60 which is based on the 12nm architecture. The CPU comes with eight cores (four Cortex-A73 core and four Cortex-A53) with a maximum clock speed of 2GHz. The CPU is paired alongside an ARM Mali-G72 graphics unit and 4GB of RAM. To store files, documents, multimedia etc, UMIDIGI fits 128GB of storage on the F1. Even better, the device comes with an hybrid Nano SIM card slot which allows further storage expansion up to 256GB using SD card.
On the software side, the UMIDIGI F1 comes out of the box running the latest Android 9 Pie operating system in its unadulterated form. Yes, stock Android.
BatteryA built-in 5,150mAh battery powers the UMIDIGI F1. And in addition to long-lasting standby and usage time, users will also be able to charge the huge battery in no time, thanks to the device’s 18W fast charging.
Price and AvailabilityThe UMIDIGI F1 was announced earlier in December but didn’t go on sale till about 2 weeks after. The device is currently available for purchase on a number of gadget e-commerce platforms for and sells within a price range of $219 to $230.

Remember the Vivo Nex with the pop-up camera from earlier this year? A remake is back and it comes with display on both front and back thereby ditching the whole pop-up camera thing. What this means is that you will be using the same set of cameras for both selfies and main photo. Using the rear display you can easily view your self and take selfies easily. You’ve also got the in-display fingerprint scanner on the the front display paired with face unlock on he rear display at the back for maximum security.
Here are a few specs of the LG G7 ThinQ:

The Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition joins the likes of ZTE Nubia X, as it has that insane screen to body ratio on the primary end and a secondary display. However, on the back of the phone is another smaller display which is like a mirror screen that makes taking selfies with the rear camera possible. All in the bid to avoid the notch, pop-camera or on-display camera like you have on the Samsung Galaxy A8s.
Unlike the front display that goes edge to edge, the display on the back is smaller and joined by bezel at the top and bottom. At the top of the screen on the back is a dual camera, IR illuminator for face unlock, flash for taking pictures from the front and another two on the lunar ring for taking selfies. The bottom bezels are not nearly as thick as the one at the top and bears ‘Nex’ written it. Apparently there are two.power buttons for each of the screen, an audio jack on top and the SIM tray, speaker and USB Type-C port at the bottom.
It should be duly noted that both the screen at the front as well as the back is AMOLED with an FHD+ & FHD resolution respectively. The 6.39-inch display covers the.entire surface sporting a 2340 x 1080 pixels while the 5.49-inch screen at the back has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It also seems the lunar ring goes under the rear display which is said to be aesthetic anyway.
Battery and CameraFor a smartphone with dual display, the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition comes down a bit from what you have on the early ‘Nex’ device. The smartphone is supplied with a 3, 500mAh battery which is not going to be enough if you’ll be keeping both display on. But then again it has a super fast charge system in place 22.5W USB Type-C charger.
You know premium smartphones is the best when it comes to photography and in this case also comes with a trio of camera. There is a 12MP main camera with EIS and 4-axis gyro OIS, PDAF, live editing and it is joined by a 2MP sensor and a TOF (Time of flight) camera for depth sensing. This is the set of cameras you’ll be using as you toggle between the selfie and rear shooting.
Hardware and SoftwareNot many changes have been made to the hardware on the smartphone since the previous release of its predecessor earlier this year. The highlight here is the huge 10GB RAM on the smartphone which was not available earlier but still with 128GB unexpandable storage space. You’ve got Android 9.0 Pie running on the smartphone and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset in the works with it Adreno 630 GPU.
Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition Pricing and AvailabilityThe smartphone will go on sale for about 264, 000 Naira depending on the deal and your location.

An update to the already existing Vivo Y93 smartphone has just been recently released and comes with a better spec sheet. However, the smartphone still maintains a similar look to the former release. The smartphone comes with a MediaTek chipset rather than the Qualcomm SoC on the Vivo Y93. Furthermore, the camera, battery, display size and resolution stays the same on both smartphones. Although, you get to enjoy more storage space and better performance on the new Vivo Y93s.

Rocking the gradient look, the smartphone looks very much like its predecessor with a nice plastic body and impressive finish. Only the camera along with the LED flash and Vivo branding can be seen on the rear of the phone. It also adopts the reigning slim 19:9 aspect ratio build, which makes the phone easier to handle despite the large screen. There is the fancy dewdrop notch on top of the screen too which leaves more room for visuals compared to the larger cut out notch.
The smartphone retains the large display from the Vivo Y93 and also comes with the average resolution on the smartphone too. You’ve got a 6.2-inch dewdrop notched screen with a bit of a chin and reduced side bezels. Visuals are satisfactory at a budget level with the 1520 x 720 pixels on the LCD panel.
Battery and CameraThere is no denying that the battery on the smartphone is more than average at least in capacity if not any other thing. This would offer the usual all day use a smartphone should offer from 4, 030mAh battery on board. No indication of fast charge on the smartphone, however, it comes with a MicroUSB port to plug into
Concerning photography on the Vivo Y93, you will find out there is really nothing out of the ordinary. Instead, it is able to take just decent pictures only with enough light though. Inside the halo notch lies the 8MP camera which is also used for face unlock and takes good enough selfies. More so, the rear is home to two cameras which includes a main 13MP sensor and a 2MP depth sensor.
Hardware and SoftwareVivo switches things up and goes for this year’s Helio P22 chipset from MediaTek rather than the Qualcomm SoC featured earlier. This is combined with a large 128GB of storage space and a sustainable 4GB RAM. It could tale up to 256GB with memory card. However, it has Funtouch OS 4.5 which corresponds to Android 8.1 Oreo.
Vivo Y93s Pricing and AvailabilityThe smartphone sells for about 90, 000 Naira depending on the deal and your location.
Here are a few specs of the Vivo Z93s:

Building into the same body, the Meizu C9 Pro comes with more or less the same design as the Meizu C9. The changes occurred on the inside, with the same display, battery and design on the two smartphones. However, the storage space, RAM and front camera on the Meizu C9 Pro are better which marks one from the other. You can’t get to.differentiate the two smartphones from just staring at them not unless you check out the specs.

Speaking on the way this smartphone looks, I would say nothing as really changed from the simple plastic build that was featured on the lesser model. Nonetheless, the smartphone is available in black and gold with no blue variant which means it is only the C9 Pro that has a gold coloured model. The rear camera still remains fairly big-eyed with a dash of LED flash underneath.
Visuals are exactly as they are on the ordinary model making the screen type on the smartphone an LCD type. One that has a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels reaching up to 5.45-inch from edge to edge. Even though the richness of colour might not be at its best, the display is still good enough for use both outdoor and indoor
Battery and CameraThe same story applies to the battery capacity, being that the Pro status doesn’t actually make it any less of an entry-level smartphone. In that regard, it still comes along with the mediocre 3, 000mAh capacity to keep everything going smoothly. Also, you will be charging it through the conventional MicroUSB port like the other phone.
Amongst the upgrade made to the smartphone comes the improvement of the selfie end of the camera. Available at the rear side is the same 13MP camera with dual LED flash with autofocus as well as panorama. At the front, there is a better 13MP camera answering to all the selfies you will be taking on the smartphone.
Hardware and SoftwareDespite the chipset remaining the same on the smartphone, the RAM and storage space built-in isn’t. Gathering power from four core, the Unisoc SC9832 processor run the features on the smartphone along with a Mali-820MP1 GPU for the graphics part. In addition, comes a 3GB RAM accompanied by 32GB of space for storage which you can still take up by 128GB using a TF card. You would also be getting Android 8.0 Oreo running along.on the smartphone.
Meizu C9 Pro Pricing and AvailabilityThe smartphone costs about 38, 000 Naira depending on the deal and your location.
Here are a few specs of the Meizu C9 Pro:
General Features Platform: Android 8.0 Oreo Processor: Octa-core Quad-core Unisoc SC9832E GPU: Mali-820MP1 Memory: 3GB RAM Colours: Black, Gold Dimension: 146.2 x 71.2 x 9.7 mm Weight: 150g SIM Type: Nano SIM SIM Count: Dual SIM Display Display: 5.45-inch, IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 1440 x 720 pixels Screen Protection: – Camera Rear Camera: 13MP camera, 1080p Video@30fps Rear Camera Features: Autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama Front Camera: 13MP camera, 720p Video@30fps Storage Built-in Storage: 32GB Memory Card Support: Yes, up to 128GB Bundled Cloud Storage: – Network Support 2G GSM: Yes 2G CDMA 1X: – 3G WCDMA: Yes 3G CDMA EVDO: – 4G LTE: LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 40(2300) Internet & Connectivity GPRS: Yes EDGE: Yes 3G/WCDMA/HSPA: Yes HSPA+: 42.2/5.76 Mbps CDMA EVDO: – 4G LTE: Yes WLAN: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, wi-fi direct Wi-Fi Hotspot: Yes Bluetooth: Yes, v4.0 with A2DP LE NFC: – Infrared Blaster: – USB Port: MicroUSB 2.0 Messaging SMS/MMS: Yes Instant Messaging: Yes Push Emails: Yes Email Protocol: – Entertainment Music Player: MP3/WAV/eAAC+ player Video Player: MP4/H.264 player FM Radio: Yes Loudspeaker: Yes 3.5mm Jack: Yes Navigation Navigation: Yes, with A-GPS, GLONASS Maps: Yes Sensors & Control Digital Compass: Yes Accelerometer: Yes Proximity Sensor: Yes Light Sensor: Yes Barometer: – SpO2: – Pedometer: – Heart Rate Monitor: – Gyroscope: – Fingerprint Scanner: – Iris Scanner: – Face Unlock: – Intelligent Digital Assistant: – Motion Sensing / Gesture Control: – Voice Control: – Other Features Video Streaming: Yes Active Noise Cancellation: Yes Wireless Charging: – Built-in Mobile Payment: – Water Resistant: – Dust Resistant: – Image Editor: Yes Video Editor: Yes Document Viewer: Yes Document Editor: Yes Battery Battery: 3, 000mAh non removable Li-Ion battery Talktime: – Standby Time: – Fast Charging: YesThe post Meizu C9 Pro Specs and Price appeared first on Nigeria Technology Guide.
Introducing a budget smartphone from the Chinese OEM, Meizu which is also known for their value for price approach. The Meizu C9 comes with just about the common low-level specs and otherwise conventional design. There is no dual camera facade neither is there a notch, just a simple looking smartphone. You would also be forgoing a fingerprint scanner on this one as it is absent here which tells the budget story quite well.
Jumia Nigeria – See Offers
You really don’t have any aesthetically driven inclusions on the smartphone just a bland bare design. The only good here is that it doesn’t appear chunky with its average bezels along the screen. On the back, there is the single camera flash and speaker and every other thing in the usual places where they are commonly found. The smartphone is available for sale in both black and blue colour options
As it stands, the display is average sized with a not too crisp visual owing to the budget resolution on it. Being as low in price as it is, the 5.45-inch display on the smartphone is excusable alongside the resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. Padding the sides of the screen are reduced bezels and in the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio.
Battery and CameraOn the scale, the Meizu C9 battery lands in the average line with just about the average capacity to keep you on all day on a minimal use. Draining power from a 3, 000mAh battery means you cannot engage in power consuming tasks like gaming, streaming videos and so on for too long. At the bottom is a Micro USB port to plug into just like its peers.
There is no hiding behind the dual cam curtain here, the smartphone comes with a singular rear and front camera. The rear 13MP camera shoots okay shots outdoors during the day but suffers a lot in low light. For selfies, however, you will be getting a 5MP shooter taking pics on.
Hardware and SoftwareFor the sake of a low budget smartphone, it comes with a quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.3GHz. The Unisoc SC9832E CPU handles tasks well for its level with a Mali-820MP1 GPU on graphics. Multitasking is very much limited as there is only 2GB RAM on board while the storage space is 16GB. An added space of 128GB is allowed using a MicroSD card in the dedicated slot. It sticks with Android 8.0 Oreo on board with no sure likelihood of a future update.
Meizu C9 Pricing and AvailabilityThe smartphone sells for about 30, 000 Naira depending on the deal and your location.

OnePlus just recently added a luxury option to its flagship smartphone following the likes of Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design, Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition or Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The OnePlus 6T McLaren comes with slight improvement most of which is in terms of aesthetics. However, there is the fuss about the Warp Charge 30 which is said to project the McLaren fast car speed to your charging. There is also the option of a mammoth 10GB RAM formerly absent from the OnePlus 6T smartphone.
Basically, both the OnePlus 6T McLaren and the ordinary model looks the same except with some additional flare added to the existing design. There is the orange accent along the edges that sparkle when it catches the light and the McLaren branding at the base of the back. It also appears that the smartphone has a carbon fibre covering across the back and of course, there is a metallic frame. You still have the teardrop notch and a quite slim bottom bezel.
Retaining the big screen from the ordinary model, the OnePlus 6T comes with the exact same screen as before. That is, an AMOLED display with a dewdrop notch on top and very reduced bezels around it too. It has the evidently reduced chin at the base of the lot so the screen takes up most of the front. As you know, AMOLED screens with their deep blacks and nice contrast, they also allow for an in-display fingerprint scanner present here. You would still be making use of the 2280 x 1080 pixel resolution display same as before.
Battery and CameraThe capacity of the battery hasn’t changed either with just the required amount to enjoy a fair usage time on the phone with lots of activities. Carrying a 3, 500mAh capacity, you get to enjoy quite a great deal of daily time on your phone. However, the new story here is the Wasp Charge 30 which promises 50% charge in just 20 minutes using the USB Type-C port in play.
You’ve got the same optical power to take photographs very much like the OnePlus 6T with loads of features like improved night pictures, slow-mo videos, OIS, EIS, AI scene detection and so on. The story remains a 16MP primary rear Sony IMX 519 shooter with a 20MP telephoto Sony IMX 376K camera. At the front lies a 16MPselfie camera with portrait mode, studio lighting and other decent features.
Hardware and SoftwareTasked with keeping things up and running, is the top-notch high-end chipset from before which gives you that breezy performance with no lags on your day to day use. Only now, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is combined with a gaping 10GB RAM and a 256GB internal storage space. No MicroSD card slot, so expansion is not possible here, however, the built-in space will be enough for most users. In conclusion, the smart smartphone is capable of handling anything you throw at it and with the Oxygen OS 9.0.5 based on Android Pie you’re up to date in that area.
