Though the industry is considered traditional and resistant to change, the growing amount of investments in construction technology proves that past characterization is now changing.
There are at least ten technologies perfect for application in the worksite to make the construction workers’ job safer and simpler while maximizing the company’s gains.
One technology that would transform the capabilities of the construction industry is the AR or the Augmented Reality that, when used, can overlay information regarding a building’s design, construction, maintenance, and renovation, the life cycle of a building.
Another that benefits the construction industry is construction software and data ecosystem that effectively gathers and relays data on materials, hazards, and others related to a company’s real-time operations.
Drone technology is another item on the list as it allows workers and supervisors to inspect an entire worksite in only a few hours as opposed to the days and weeks spent when surveying on-foot. Inaccessible areas can finally be inspected safely when using drones to sweep the site.
The dull task of bricklaying requires precision that can be overlooked by a bored and tired worker which compromises the quality of a structure. Technological developments resulted in the bricklaying robot which can construct a home in less than three days without sacrificing anything in the building. The house built by the robot also reportedly passed the local building codes in Perth, Australia.
The construction industry is an industry with high exposure to risks and uncertainties for its personnel in the worksite leading to many counts of accidents that result in injuries and deaths. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence or the AI in the industry lets companies act proactively instead of reactively regarding project risk management.
