No matter how good you are at what you do, looking for a job is always a nightmare. Standing out is hard, especially if you still haven’t had a lot of practical experience in your field, and you need to find a way to stand out.
Having a killer CV is a fantastic start, but it will only take you so far. In order for your potential employer to fall head over heels for you, you need a personal website.
Don’t worry, you won’t have to pay anyone to make it for you. Creating a website on your own is a breeze, especially if you’re using SITE123. This amazing website builder allows its users to create beautifully designed, fully responsive, professional websites in minutes. Its intuitive interface and easy to use features have already made it a favorite among job seekers and small business owners, and it’s time you joined the winning team.
Still not completely sold on the idea? Here’s 3 reasons why you need a personal website when looking for a job:
1. It shows that you are persistent
Including a link to your personal website is a fantastic way to show your future employers how persistent and dedicated you are. If you found the time and energy to put into creating a website to impress your future boss, it shows just how much dedication you’d show at your job.
2. It shows that you are creative
No matter what kind of job you’re applying for, being creative and thinking outside the box is always a plus. Attaching a link to your personal website along with your CV will show your potential employers that you’re capable of breaking out from conventional norms and traditions in order to provide the best possible experience for your clients.
And while it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise to receive a personal website instead of a traditional CV from a graphic designer or an artist, receiving one from a marketing intern or someone aiming at a managerial position is quite unexpected.
3. It shows that you’re willing to go the extra mile
Let’s face it – there’s probably a million other people that would be suitable for the job you’re applying for. In order to stand out from a million others, you need to show your potential employer that you’re willing to give back more than what’s expected from you.
There’s really no way to mention that in your CV without sounding too fake or pushy, and a personal website is a perfect solution to that. Without you saying a word, your employer will realize that you’re willing to go the extra mile for the job, something that’s truly invaluable when it comes to employees.

One Mr. Ernest Ebina from Cross River State, who was thrown down from a three storey building and tortured on the orders of one Commodore Yusuf Jogas Hina (RTD) has written a petition to foremost Human Rights Radio and TV show Brekete Family, Abuja, to make his “petition a subject of public glare.”
The electrician was in 2016, beaten for weeks and thrown off a three storey building which left him with a broken back bone, swollen stomach and now passes urine through tubes.
According to the petition obtained by CrossRiverWatch on Monday, the complainant, who hails from Abi local government of Cross River State stated that he was living with the Commodore in Port Harcourt where he worked as an electrician.
Mr. Ebina stated that the Commodore complained of missing the sum of six million eight hundred thousand and the wife of the Commodore accused him of taking it.
“From then on I was left to the mercies of my tormentors; Men and officers of the Nigerian Navy directly under the said Commodore Yusuf Jogas Hina,” said Mr Ebina.
“I was chained and tied like a goat into a sack and mercilessly beaten with all kinds of cudgels, weapons, wires and suspended in the air for upward of a week I was manhandled and given degrading treatment before made to face the fire of the men and officers of the Nigerian navy.”
“This horrendous and painful process of torture was initiated by Commodore Yusuf Jonas Hina RTD. who used his official boots to trample upon me, while his orderly used his rifle to panel beat me and the Commodore further ordered that razor blade be used to slice the skin of my thigh and salt and pepper added before lighting a candle to roast my thigh, the marks are still visible.
I was thrown down from a three (3) storey building and left for death by the Commodore and his lackeys. Today I pass urine through tubes due to the mercies of God.”
The complainant added that he was tied to a bag and soaked in a pool for hours “to make sure that when I will be shot no blood will spill” but that the officer commanded to kill him abandoned him in the forest where a good Samaritan saw him and took him to the hospital.

Toyin Abraham
Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham has again reminisced about the painful experience she encountered in 2016.
Recall that the actress abused hard drugs including marijuana and codeine, and was involved in several other vices which she’s still not proud of.
While speaking at the 2017 edition of Success Story Africa, which held in Lagos, on Sunday, Premium Times quoted her as saying at the event.
“You need to stop bad habits. I was involved in a lot of vices and it became worse last year. I did drugs and I am not ashamed to say it because it’s now a thing of the past.”
“They say codeine makes you high; I took a lot. I smoked a lot and I didn’t even know I looked horrible, because I was so skinny. If you came to my house last year, you would meet a lot of people and you won’t want to leave because we smoked, gossiped about people and what have you.”
Explaining some of the mistakes she has made in the entertainment industry, she said:
“I made a lot of mistakes when I began acting and that was because I did not have plans. I just wanted to be known.”
“But, I now know that being popular isn’t the same thing as being successful. When I got into the industry and the fame became too much, I became irresponsible. I could not boast of N1 million in 2016. I was making money and I wanted to feel among”
“When one of our colleagues bought a car, it was trouble because we all strive to buy the same car or a bigger one. I had to change my circle for good and this change started in March 2017.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola said, “I am happy to announce that we have recovered $64,630,055 from our international customers in Benin Republic and Republic of Niger. The Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trader will work out the modalities for distribution.”
According to the minister, the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company has been directed to work out the modalities for the distribution of the money to power producing firms across the country.
Fashola believes the Federal Government has not been soft on players in the power sector since privatisation in 2013. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) is of the view that the regulator takes charge in a privatised environment. In a chat with newsmen, Fashola demonstrated that steady Power is achievable and explains the challenges of the sector and what Nigerians should expect from the ongoing power sector reforms.
The minister, however, noted that there were other challenges that the power sector must overcome together, stressing that estimated billing and inadequate metering were among the constraints facing the industry.
Fashola added, “And in this regard, we anxiously await the regulation from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to open up the meter supply business.
“Similarly, I am happy to report that following the approval of the Federal Executive Council earlier in the year, the dispute over the meter supply contract that started since 2003 was resolved by a court-approved settlement on Thursday, November 9, 2017.
“This means that there will be N37bn available for meter supply by the contractor to the Discos who want to partner and can reach their independent agreement with the contractor. While we await the regulations by NERC, a lot of preparatory work can be done.”
The minutes of the meeting stated that the problems of right of way for the 11Kv and 33Kv distribution lines within the states was one that the sector must overcome together.
“I have signed letters last week to all 36 state governors and the Federal Capital Territory minister, with copies to each Disco asking them to support you in protecting and recovering the right of way for your distribution lines so that you can serve their states and residents better,” the minister stated.

Jadesola Agbalade pleaded guilty to one count of knowingly distributing child pornography on July 20th, 2016.
Agbalade told gardaí she forwarded the video clip via the messaging platform Whatsapp in a bid to warn a friend about the dangers of leaving her kids alone with her boyfriend, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard.
The court heard Agbalade is currently living in temporary homeless accommodation and she has no previous convictions.
Judge Karen O’Connor initially heard evidence in the case last month. On Thursday, November 9, she said she had received a detailed probation report in relation to Agbalade which she wanted time to consider. She said given the nature of the case it required very detailed consideration.
Judge O’Connor adjourned finalisation of the case until November 21st.
Garda Enda Ledwith told Karl Finnegan BL, prosecuting, that he arrested a man in Dublin Airport in July 2017 in relation to credit card fraud. That man’s phone was investigated and the child pornography clip was discovered.
The court heard the clip showed a child between the ages of two and five being raped by a man. Upon further investigation, gardaí discovered it is an international clip that has been in circulation since about 2014.
Gardaí traced the phone number from which the clip was sent back to Agbalade. When they called the number, Agbalade answered and agreed to meet them at Blanchardstown shopping centre.
She handed over her phone to gardaí and admitted to receiving the child pornography clip and sending it on. As well as the male recipient identified by gardaí, she told gardaí she sent the clip to a female friend who has three young children in a bid to warn her “not to leave her children with her boyfriend”. That woman has never been identified.
READ: 13-year-old SS1 student flees with boyfriend in LagosGarda Ledwith agreed with Michael Bowman SC, defending, that Agbalade “didn’t understand the enormity of the situation” when she was interviewed. She told gardaí, “I didn’t know it wasn’t right. I’m sorry.”
Mr Bowman told the court it was a “remarkably unusual” case. He said there was no suggestion Agbalade profited in any way from distributing the video clip, nor was she involved in the generation of the material.
He said the usual circumstances surrounding child pornography distributors, who are usually found in possession of hundreds or thousands of images, were “completely absent in this case”.
The court heard no further material was found on Agbalade’s two phones, which she handed over to gardaí.
Mr Bowman said Agbalade had one teenage child still living with her and two adult sons who were in university. He said she was a single mother, who came to Ireland in 2001. There were “no concerns” regarding Agbalade’s fitness as a mother, he said.
He submitted the stigma of a conviction would be punishment enough for Agbalade.
“She will now be a sex offender and as a mother, that is a significant stigma in the community,” he said. Agbalade “comes to the court absolutely aghast at what she has allowed herself to become involved in”, he added.

Senate Leader, Alin Ndume ::
Suspension of former leader Mohammed Ali Ndume has expired, some Senators have disagreed with the chamber’s counsel, Mike Ozekhome(SAN) for proceeding on appeal against the High Court judgment that declared Ndume’s suspension illegal without the resolution of members.
Ozekhome has filed a notice of appeal against Friday’s judgment of Justice Babatunde Quadri of the Federal High Court, Abuja which declared Ndume’s suspension as illegal, null and void.
According to a letter by Clerk to the Senate Nelson Ayewoh, Ndume is expected to resume in plenary tomorrow.
But barely 72 hours after the reinstatement of Ndume by the Federal High Court, Abuja, Chief Mike Ozekhome(SAN) , who is the counsel to the Senate filed a notice of appeal at the Court of Appeal(Abuja Division).
The appellants are Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges Sen. Samuel Anyanwu.
There were indications that many Senators do not want the case against Ndume to drag to the Appellate Court.
A ranking Senator said: “So far, we have not agreed at the Executive Session to go to the Court of Appeal on this matter. We are all war wearied, we want peace now, we are tired of any row among us.
“Even the High Court refused to award cost in the spirit of engendering peace and harmony in the Senate. We will prefer to broker peace between the Senate President and Ndume.”
Another Senator from the South-East said: “I think our counsel was only acting on the basis of law but we will rather proffer political solution to the judgment of the High Court. It is not every time you go to court.”
A third Senator said: “Going to the Court of Appeal may compound the situation. Some of us have just discovered that our counsel once filed a suit in court against the Senate when Sen. Arthur Nzeribe was suspended. We believe it is wrong of him now to be defending the suspension of a Senator. You cannot approbate and reprobate in law.
“I will advise the President of the Senate to be magnanimous and toe the path of peace and reconciliation which had been initiated by leaders from APC and Borno State.”
A Senator from North-Central said: “I think we need to test the law to its logical conclusion on the powers of the Senate to exercise disciplinary control on its members. But we have not met to decide whether or not we should go on appeal.”

Angry residents had surrounded the house of the sexagenarian and were about to set it ablaze when policemen from the Ijesha division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, rescued her.
The suspect was said to have been arrested and detained at the station, while Matthew was rushed to a general hospital for medical attention.
It was gathered that Ayadi and Matthew had been living together at the house for sometime before the woman discovered that her gold jewellery was missing on Saturday.
It was learnt that the suspect queried the teenager about the jewellery and she allegedly owned up, saying she kept the item in an uncompleted building.
A source said when the woman went to the building where the jewellery was kept, she didn’t find it.
“She said the value of the jewellery was about N500,000. When she couldn’t find it, she became angry and descended on the girl.
She beat her up with an object till she broke her head. That was what residents saw and they became angry. They wanted to burn down her house. The DPO and his team were on patrol when they came across the scene and rescued her from the mob,” he said.
A Facebook user who posted a graphic video of the victim, however, claimed that she fell from the “second floor” of the house during the assault.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the incident, adding that the victim was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
He said, “It is a case of assault and wounding. The girl was accused of theft and she was assaulted by the guardian. She fell and sustained injuries; we took her to LASUTH where she was X-rayed for internal injuries. She is under observation and the matter is under investigation.”
Famous-Cole, however, denied the report that Matthew was thrown down from the building.
Our correspondent learnt that the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender had already waded into the matter.
The Director of OPD, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, said the government would continue to prosecute cases of child abuse in the state.
She said, “The Lagos State Government has zero tolerance for child abuse. We will not condone it irrespective of the position of who is involved. We urge residents to be vigilant and report all forms of child abuse in their community. We have asked the police to prosecute the case without any delay.”

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, has said four cops were admitted to a hospital after being injured in a clash between the police and students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, on Monday.
The commissioner added that eight police vans were also damaged in the clash.
It was learnt that the students trooped to the Ibadan-Abeokuta Expressway around 6.30am, blocking the main road linking Oyo and Ogun states, with many motorists forced to take alternative routes to their destinations.
It was learnt that the rector invited the police when the students, who were protesting against the school management, blocked the main road.
They were said to be calling for the removal of the Provost of the school, Dr Babajide Adenekan, after a disagreement between Adenekan and members of the school’s Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Non -Academic Staff Union and the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions.
A lecturer in the school, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the issue had been on for more than one year.
She said, “There have been clashes between the provost and lecturers of the school. Some lecturers were suspended, while some claimed their allowances were withheld by the provost illegally.
“But this time, the students were expressing their grievances over the administrative style of the provost. They said the style of the provost triggered several strikes and unnecessary delay in the school’s academic calendar. They also called for the removal of the provost.”
SEE: Photos: Corp members escape death in a ghastly accidentWhile revealing that the police had arrested five students for their involvement in the clash, Odude said there had been several meetings between the school authorities, the students and the police on how to resolve the crises in the school.
He said, “It has been an off and on situation. We have been on this for the past six months, meeting them and trying to resolve the issues. We have met the students’ union leaders and the school authorities.
“We told the students that they should limit their activities within the school because once you deprive others the use of a public facility, you are against the law. Today (Monday), they blocked the main road during their protest and we sent some policemen there. But they became violent and attacked the policemen.
“Four policemen were injured and they are now in the hospital. Eight police vans were damaged too. We had to use force to push them back into the school. That you are a student does not give you the liberty to break laws. Those who were arrested will be charged to court at the end of investigations.”
The students, however, claimed that the police shot at them during the protest with some of them sustaining gunshot injuries. They also said a lecturer was injured in the melee.

Prof. Itse Sagay said the government believed Ikoyi whistle-blower needed to be adequately counselled and this was the reason his commission was delayed.
The senior advocate said this during an interview with our correspondent on Monday.
Sagay said if the commission, which the whistle-blower claims is N860m, was given to him immediately; he probably would have squandered it within a month or two.
Sagay said, “What I gathered from my inquiry is that the man is not sufficiently stable to receive such a huge sum of money.
He is like someone who will almost run mental when he gets the money and will use it in an irresponsible manner, attracting not only undesirable people but even danger to himself.
“I think what they wanted to do for him was to provide counsellors. Not just counsellors for character and mental situation but counsellors who would be like consultants that would help him to really invest the money and plan in such a way that he doesn’t throw it away in five minutes.
“They are trying to help him. Nobody is denying him anything. They are trying to help him but he just misunderstands the intention and like everyone that has been deprived for a long time, he is so desperate to have it but from what I can see, if they just give him everything, it won’t last more than a month or two because so many people will start finding ways to get to him and taking their portions from him. So, they were just trying to help him but he became hysterical.”
Sagay hailed the Federal Government’s decision to pay the whistle-blower in tranches, adding that such a method of payment would deter him from spending it all at once.
The PACAC chairman said it was also the responsibility of the government to ensure that the whistleblower did not become a nuisance.
READ: N325m whistle-blowing reward: I’m not mad, I need my money — Ikoyi whistle-blower tells EFCCHe added, “It is better to pay him in tranches. I agree with the government because if not, he will throw it away. This is valuable money that government could have used for millions of unemployed and wretchedly poor people.
“One man is getting it and he just wants it so that he can blow it all in five minutes? No, the government has a responsibility to see that his excitement does not end in seeing the money being thrown away irresponsibly. So, I agree with the government.”
The lawyer of the whistle-blower, Yakubu Galadima, however, said the government’s intentions were suspect.
Galadima wondered why the government did not question his client’s mental capacity when he was giving the EFCC information on the money.
The lawyer said even if his client was mental, he still deserved to be given his due.
He said, “As far as I am concerned, if the money is not paid by the end of this month, I am ready to tell the whole world but if they act favourably, their image will be redeemed.
“Does Prof. Sagay have contact with my client? Doesn’t my client have relatives that can take care of him? Even a mad man is entitled to his estate so what are they talking about? That is not an excuse as far as I am concerned.”
