ASUS Zenbook 13 UX331 Key Specs and Review

ASUS Zenbook 13 UX331 Key Specs and Review
ASUS ZenBook 13 UX331

The ASUS Zenbook 13 UX331 is one of the latest addition to ASUS’ family of ZenBook laptops. It is a low-cost and portable ZenBook with decent, but watered down, specs when compared to upper tiered members of the family like the ASUS ZenBook Pro 14 and ZenBook Pro 15 with ASUS’ innovative ScreenPad — a secondary display incorporated into their touchpads.

However, the Zenbook 13 UX331 still retains some premium specs synonymous with ZenBooks like solid build; generous number and selection of ports; and excellent keyboard with backlit customization while bringing some new additions like slimmer bezels aound the display, slim body, and improved hardware and gaming configuration to handle more heavy tasks and gaming.

ASUS Zenbook 13 UX331 Key Specifications Display — 13.3-inch IPS, 1920 x 1080 pixels non-touch screen Dimension — 310 mm (w) x 216 mm (d) x 13.9 mm Weight — 1.13 kg CPU — Quad-core Intel Core i5-8250U, eight threads RAM — 8GB DDR4 SSD — 256GB SATA3 Graphics — NVIDIA MX150 2GB Ports — HDMI, USB-C, USB 3.0, micro SD card, and 3.5mm headset jack Connectivity — Wireless AC (Intel Dual Band 8265), Bluetooth 4.1 Battery — 50Wh, 65W charger Design

ASUS ZenBook 13 UX331

The ASUS Zenbook 13 UX331 is made of a metal and plastic combo and available in two colour options, Slate Grey and Royal Blue. The outer part of the bottom and top chassis are made out of metal while the inner chassis is entirely plastic. The outer part of the lid is, however, covered in some sort of coating that gives it a glossy finish. It’s not entirely shiny but it does retain fingerprint smears and smudges.

ASUS ZenBook 13 UX331

Ports are generously offered on the ZenBook 13 UX331 and distributed on both sides of the notebook; it comes with just about all the ports you need: USB A, USB C, micro SD card reader, HDMI, headphone and microphone jack. Some modern ports like Thunderbolt 3 port are lacking but that sure isn’t a deal breaker. Port selection is decent enough and neatly (not evenly) distributed on either side of the (0.5inch or 13.9mm) slim notebook.

Asus ZenBook 13 UX331

When the lid is opened, you are greeted by the island-style keyboard, a fingerprint reader, and the touchpad (both outlined on the edges by thin silver lining). The keys on the keyboard are clicky, have a short key travel of 1 millimeter and only require about 68 grams of force to press them; smooth and noiseless typing is assured. The backlit nature of the keyboard further makes it suitable to use at any period of the day. Interestingly, the brightness of the Asus ZenBook 13 UX331 keyboard light can be increased, decreased, or totally turned off by hitting a key or just swiping fingers on the trackpad.

ASUS ZenBook 13 UX331

Generally, the Asus ZenBook 13 UX331 is brilliantly and compactly built. There is a disappointing flaw though. The dual speakers are housed underneath the device; this will cause weak audio output or output interference during music play or when watching movies with the laptop on a desk.

Display

ASUS ZenBook 13 UX331

The ZenBook 13 UX331 has a 13.3-inch display with relatively slim bezels, decent colour reproduction, 298 nits brightness level, and nice viewing angles. The ZenBook 13 UX331, however, comes in three different display types though:

A touchscreen IPS Full HD screen A non-touchscreen IPS version with Full HD resolution IPS touchscreen version with UHD (4K) resolution Processor and Storage

If you need an under $1000 13-inch slim notebook to handle heavy tasks and multitasking effortlessly, the ZenBook 13 UX331 is up to the task. The laptop has an Intel KabyLake-R Core i5-8250U processor and a Nvidia MX150 graphics unit laced with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256 GB SATA SSD. Should you need more RAM or storage space, there is a version with 16GB and 512GB you can opt for.

The ZenBook 13 UX331 will perform well enough without hiccups as a daily driver but averagely as a gaming PC. Despite its slim build, the PC has a single fan and a heatpipe for optimal cooling and airflow during usage. ASUS says the fan runs all the time and is reasonably quiet with no coil whining or electrical noise.

Battery

Depending on factors like display/screen type, brightness level, and usage intensity, the ASUS ZenBook 13 UX331 should (and will) easily supply be 7-10 hours of usage time. In addition, the laptop also comes with a 65Wh Fast-Charging charger that takes about 1hour 30 minutes to get a full charge.

Price

Price of the Asus ZenBook 13 UX331 will differs based on processor and storage configuration. However, price generally ranges from $900 to $1400.

Vivo Y83 Pro Specs and Price

The Vivo Y83 Pro is not much of a ”Pro’ version as you might think you have. Only one significant difference can be spotted between both smartphones and that is in the rear camera. Instead of the single camera at the rear, you now have an additional 2MP camera with everything else staying the same. However, the smartphone still has the notch and very much still look like an iPhone X dub. You can check out the some of its features below.

Where to Buy Vivo Y83 Pro

Jumia Nigeria – See Offers | Jumia Kenya – See Offers | Gearbest – See Offers

Vivo Y83 Pro Key Specs and Features 6.22-inch, IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 720 X 1520 pixels (270 ppi) Android 8.1 Oreo (Funtouch OS 4.0) Octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 CPU with 4GB RAM 64GB built-in storage space, up to 256GB with a memory card Dual 13MP + 2MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera 4G LTE Fingerprint scanner (rear) 3, 260mAh non removable Li-ion battery

Vivo Y83 Pro

Design and Display

Mostly, the Vivo Y83 Pro looks very much like the ordinary model except for the change to dual cameras at the back. It maintains the build of the Vivo Y83 and has the same manner of rounded edges. The camera are arranged one on top of the other in the same module while the flash is separate below it  Over at the front, is the notch which is a bit large more like that on the iPhone X with a moderate chin at the bottom.

No improvement or deduction is made to the display on borad, there is still a large display with low resolution. The screen is 6.22-inch large and with a protection of an unspecified Corning Gorilla Glass. That said, the smartphone has an HD+ resolution of 1520 X 720 pixels.

Battery and Camera

Being an average snartphone, the battery capacity is about the same thing and the capacity present is 3, 260mAh. This will be about the  battery capacity that can get you through the day, although, heavy usage will deter this from happening.

Optics sees a bit of an improvement but not much, just the addition of an extra camera to what you have on the Vivo Y83. For what it’s worth you now have a 13MP and 2MP camera combo at the rear. Selfies will be administered by an 8MP camera which can also has an HDR mode.

Hardware and Software

As far has being a ‘Pro’ version goes, none of that reflects in the hardware you see here. There is the MediaTek Hello P22 processor same as before and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Not only that, the smartphone has the same 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage with an expansion limit of 256GB. Also, the Vivo Y83 Pro boots Funtouch OS 4.0 (Android 8.1 Oreo) from the box.

Vivo Y83 Pro Pricing and Availability

The smartphone costs around 83, 000 Naira depending on the deal and your location.

Best Tech for your Car’s Maintenance
Code Reader

Car repairs can be incredibly expensive. One minor issue can snowball into a thousand-dollar fix if you are not equipped to diagnose the situation early on.

Whether you’re a novice when it comes to car repairs or someone who has had experience with automotive upkeep, you probably want to do all that you can to avoid another costly trip to the mechanic.

The good news is, regular maintenance of a vehicle can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars on repairs, and extend your car’s lifespan. You may not feel confident in your automotive skills, but luckily, you can learn to do most routine maintenance at home with the proper tools.

Code Reader:

Code Reader

One of the most useful tools you can invest in is a code reader. This device plugs into a port called an OBD connector, usually located somewhere on the driver’s side of your vehicle.

This machine will give you an error code for any potential issue on your vehicle, which is especially helpful in diagnosing problems and passing emissions.

With the right code reader, you can sometimes diagnose the problem yourself so that you don’t have to pay extra for a diagnostic fee.

While these machines can be a bit pricier, you can find a decent one for around $50. While it may sound like a lot up front, the amount of money and labor this can save you trying to figure out the problem makes it a good long-term investment.

Once you have pulled the codes off of the reader, you can look up what they mean using websites like MyCheckEngineLight.Com.

Float Switch:

Float Switch

A float switch, also known as a liquid level sensor, is a device used when testing the levels of fluids in your vehicle. This tool can be used to test a number of fluids, such as fuel, oil, coolant, or transmission.

Knowing the fluid levels in your vehicle is important, as a well-lubricated engine is essential to the proper upkeep and maintenance of your car.

This will not only act to alert you when your fluid levels are low, but a float switch can also let you know when your fluids may be too high, which can be a problem when you are talking about fluids such as oil.

There are a number of fluids you should be checking in your vehicle regularly, so putting $150 towards a float switch will save you grief in the long run.

Tire Pressure Gauge:

Tire Pressure Gauge

Tires perform an essential function in the operation of your vehicle. Therefore, knowing how to correctly use and read a tire pressure gauge is important before taking your car on the road.

A tire pressure gauge connects to the valve stem of a tire, the area where you would normally connect for air.

A common occurrence when filling tires with air is that the tire may be overfilled, which can present just as many dangers on the road and affect overall alignment.

While the conventional pen-sized gauge is relatively inexpensive (around $6 or $7,) you can opt to invest in a digital pressure gauge as well.

The process to use these devices is relatively the same, but the digital gauge may be simpler for a new user.

Many of us aren’t mechanics. It is impossible to expect someone to learn the inner workings of an automobile overnight, but with proper research, patience, and the right investments, you can be equipped with the right tools to give your car the proper upkeep.

While these tools don’t guarantee that you can fix an existing problem in your car, the regular practice of these devices can save you time, money, and energy.
