Samsung Galaxy M30s offers some upgrades to the Galaxy M30. While Samsung is still busy expanding its line of midrange devices, they have given us a refresher of the regular Galaxy M30 which we have come to see in the market. Adding a few features here and there, improving some bits and listening to consumer complaints on the last unit, we now have the Galaxy M30s.
Although the smartphone is yet to hit the shelves, Samsung has made the official announcement. Is this a phone we should look forward to? How about we find out below.

Design and Display
Samsung retains the same waterdrop-notch on the 6.4-inch screen which comes with the predecessor of this device, so there is not much to see here.
Since this is a lower midrange unit, it is not surprising that we get a plastic cover on the back instead of some more premium material.
Looking closely at the front, the screen does come with minimal bezels, but there is no taking away the slightly big chin which comes with the smartphone either. If that can be overlooked, the Super AMOLED screen wrapped in a 20:9 ratio frame is a beauty to look at.
The back of the Samsung Galaxy M30s doesn’t deviate too much from the old design. We do have differences in the camera cut out now being bigger, as well as a better-designed fingerprint sensor, but that is just about it.
Camera
If there is a major improvement which the Samsung Galaxy M30s has over its older brother, it has to be in the cameras.
Here, we have a massive 48MP main sensor which is supported by an 8MP ultrawide snapper and 5MP depth sensor to match. This arrangement floors what we had on the standard Galaxy M30 – and we are not even done yet.
The front camera also got a massive bump to 24MP, so we are sure to get some better pictures with this camera.
If not anything else, the camera makes all the difference.
Hardware, Software and Other Features
For a 2019 phone, anything less than the Android 9 Pie would have been unacceptable. Fortunately, that is what Samsung brings with this unit – adding their One UI flavour on top of that.
Diving under the hood, the South Korean OEM opted for an in-house Exynos 9610 chipset designed under the 10nm process.
Although we now have the 7nm process to look forward to, this is one of the best chipsets that could go on a midrange like this. All that, and we haven’t mentioned the Mali-G72 MP3 graphics card.
The Galaxy M30s offers configuration options of 4GB RAM on a 64GB storage capacity, and a 6GB RAM / 128GB marriage for power users. No matter which one of these you pick, you get a microSD card slot which can take up to 1TB.
Fans of this device will have to choose between the available Blue and Black colour options. Perhaps the biggest win for us is the improved 6000 mAh battery, adding an extra 1000mAh from what the older Galaxy M30 had.
Like the old unit, though, this one would also support 15W fast charging.
Samsung Galaxy M30s Price and Availability
Although the device has been announced in the market, it is not yet available. It is expected to launch into stores on the 18th of September, and should cost between $210 – $260, depending on the model you are getting, and where you are getting your unit from.
